Family Relationships: Parents

Heavenly Father,

How you understand a parent’s heart!  You long to be close to your children; you desire that we obey you; you want the best for each of your children—“therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you”  (Is.30:18).

These are the things that are on my heart about my own children. Father, I pray that my husband and I will provide an atmosphere of unconditional love so that (names of children) will draw close to us as parents.

I pray that (names of children) will have a heart to obey their parents and will not be deceived into thinking that we are trying to ruin their fun and limit their happiness.

I pray that our children will receive the blessing of having a right relationship with parents, “that it may be well with them and that they may live long on the earth” (Eph 6:3).

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.  Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head, and ornaments about your neck.

(Proverbs 1:8-9)
